Back to superheroes…

It’s been a little while since we looked at some superheroes here – this page contains some strips found on Henchmen for Hire. This is not a review though one may come later. What I’d like to do is show some superhero art that does not mimic the Marvel and DC mould.

Look in particular at: The width and style of the outline of each character, the relatively plain backgrounds – sometimes just a colour, the red speech in Vixx’s bubble, and the way background figures are drawn in a minimalist way. Contrast this with your favourite Marvel or DC title – think about what the artist was trying to do with this style and how your style may differ.

You don’t have to draw in the style of Jack Kirby to make a good comic book!
